Can I have a garbage disposal on a septic system?

Yes, but it adds solids to the tank. Plan on pumping more often, and never put grease down the drain.

How much does a new garbage disposal cost?

A new 1/2 horsepower disposal starts from $1,241 installed at Drainworks. 3/4 HP starts from $1,380 and 1 HP starts from $1,715.

My disposal hums but does not spin. What now?

It is jammed. Turn it off and do not put your hand in it. Unjamming starts from $340.
