Know the signs

When the alarm goes off.

A high-water alarm means the pump chamber is filling faster than it empties. Here is what to do.

Silence the alarm

Most panels have a silence button. The light stays on until the problem is fixed.

Stop using water

Hold off on laundry, showers and dishwashers so the chamber does not overflow.

Check the breaker

A tripped pump breaker is a common, easy cause.

Call us

If the breaker is fine, the pump or a float has likely failed.

How it works

Diagnose. Pump. Fix. Test.

Most pump replacements take one to two hours on site.

  1. 01

  3. 03

    Fix

We replace the failed pump, float or alarm.

  4. 04

    Test

The system is run through a full cycle before we leave.

Questions

Pumps & alarms, answered.

Answers from licensed plumbers and septic installers. Still unsure? Call West CT at (860) 248-6262.

Why is my septic alarm going off?
The water in the pump chamber is higher than it should be. The usual causes are a failed pump, a stuck float or a tripped breaker. Limit water use and call us.
How much does a sewage ejector pump cost?
Replacing a sewage ejector pump starts from $2,711 at Drainworks. A complete ejector system starts from $5,246.
What is the difference between an effluent pump and an ejector pump?
An effluent pump moves treated liquid from a septic pump chamber to the leach field. An ejector pump lifts raw sewage from a basement bathroom or laundry up to the main drain.
How often should a pump chamber be cleaned?
Have it checked with every septic pump-out. Septic Protection Plan members get the pump function checked at every yearly inspection.
Can I get an alarm that texts me?
Yes. A Wi-Fi enabled pump alarm starts from $1,289 installed, as long as there is a 110-volt outlet nearby.
